Running Hotdogs Not Eating Hotdogs - 5k + Weight Goals

Well this past week was Paczki day, a Detroit Polish community thing.  Our version of Mardi Gras, Fat Tuesday, day before lent.  A lump of dough deep fried and stuffed.  On average 1000 calories.

Celebrating like any good pole with deep fried food and beer Meredith and I ran the Paczki Run 5k.

Fun run but what I learned is that I am out of shape. In my running prime my 5k time was under 19 minutes.  During the Paczki Run it was 27 minutes.  Inspired.  My goal next race is under 24 minutes and by year end under 20 minutes.

It didn't stop there.  To achieve a goal one has to not only set a goal but needs to be able to measure how one is tracking toward that goal.  I found my new favorite app and device...the Fitbit Charge 2.  I chose the Fitbit for price point, ratings research and capability.

I love the dashboard that tracks distance, heart rate, sleep, water consumption (I need to log this) and caloric intake.

This last one turns out is now more important.  Having stepped on the scale for the first in several months....
That does say 198....shocking and disgusting.

So my journey begins.  Get to under 20 minute 5k.
